Through color field paintings, we interpret the independent assortment and segregation of alleles in a population of maize seedlings. We used standard laboratory techniques (DNA isolation, Polymerase Chain Reaction [PCR] and gel electrophoresis), in a process known colloquially as genotyping, to resolve the genetic makeup of each plant for a single gene in an F2 population.
